Jeff Chandler was an American film actor born on December 15, 1918, in Brooklyn, New York. He began his career as a radio actor before transitioning to the big screen. Chandler's breakthrough role came in 1950 when he starred as Cochise in the Western film "Broken Arrow." This performance earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Throughout the 1950s, Chandler became known for his roles in action and adventure films. He appeared in movies such as "Flame of Araby," "Bird of Paradise," and "The Battle at Apache Pass." Chandler was often cast as a rugged and strong male lead, and his striking looks and deep voice made him a popular leading man.
Chandler also ventured into television, starring in the series "Jeff's Collie" (later known as "Lassie"), where he played a veterinarian. The show ran from 1964 to 1970.
